2014 Furch OM-34 SR (like new!)

2014 Furch OM-34 SR (like new!)

Furch guitars are handmade in the Czech republic and have earned a reputation for their high standards in craftsmanship and meticulous selection of fine tonewoods.

The OM-34 is clearly based around a vintage Martin OM-28 model with it's classic combination of Indian rosewood back and sides, Sitka spruce top, mahogany neck and ebony bridge and fingerboard. It also features a herringbone trim around the top and centerseam on the back, as well as open gear tuners. Another luxurious appointment is the beautiful torch-inlay on the headstock.

Picking up the guitar the first thing that becomes apparant is the V-shaped neck. The V- shape is comfy and not too pronounced, so if you are more acustomed to a modern neck shape you will probably easily adapt to it as well. At the first strum you immediately notice how resonant the guitar is, and though at first it may seem to have a modest voice there is a complexity in the sound that is both musical and inviting. The balance between the notes all over the fretboard is astounding, as is the dynamic range of the guitar. It's suited for strumming as well as fingerstyle playing and has that sweet midrangy quality typical of a style 28 Orchestra model.

In terms of condition, the guitar is basically as new! The overall build quality, sound and playability are very impressive, and the complexity and richness of the tone will develop more over time once as it opens up.
