1993 Ricardo Sanchis J-90 (needs work / sold as is)

Founded in 1915 by Ricardo Sanchis Nacher for three generations now the Sanchis family has been building classical and flamenco style instruments completely by hand from their atelier in Valencia, Spain. These instruments are highly regarded and used by some of the worlds finest players.

The now discontinued J-90 model was one of Ricardo Sanchis’ high-end studio models, featuring all solid East Indian rosewood back and sides and a tight grained spruce top. The fretboard made of ebony while the bridge is also made of Indian rosewood. Their are only five red cedar braces supporting the top instead of seven, putting this instrument somewhere between a flamenco and a classical guitar.

This J-90 was made in 1993 and after 25 years naturally some playwear is to be expected. A superficial crack in the top has been expertly repaired by the well-known Dutch luthier Bert Kwakkel several years ago. The guitar is being sold “as is” because it does need some additional work to make it perfect. The center seem of the top shows some separation behind the bridge from being exposed to dryness. Also the fretboard needs to be shimmed to get the action perfect as it's very high at the 12th fret in it's current state.

The guitar has been cleaned and setup with a new set of strings, and has a nice warm sound. Due to a it's imperfections the guitar is offered at bargain price, for which you get an all-solid woods handmade guitar from one of Spains most well-known builders.
